During a time when Steve Rogers learned of corruption in the White House he had become disillusioned and retired as
Captain America. Upon learning this, Bob Russo announced that he would become the new Captain America. On his first
night out as Captain America, he noticed a robbery at a store. Trying to stop the robbery, he swung from the top of
a building, only to crash into a brick wall and breaking his arm in the process. The next day he announced his
retirement as Captain America. While reading a news article about Bob Russo retiring as Captain America only after
one day, “Scar” Turpin decided he deserved to be the next Captain America. Turpin donned a Captain America costume
and patrolled the city on his motorcycle until he came across two men mugging an elderly man. Turpin rushed to help
the man only to find out that the two men were part of a gang known as the Road Runners. The Road Runners quickly
overpowered Turpin, leaving him beaten badly in the street. Turpin quickly decided that being Captain America was
not for him and quit.
Roscoe
During a time when Steve Rogers learned of corruption in the White House he had become disillusioned and retired as
Captain America. The public would soon know about Captain America’s retirement which led to various men trying to
become the new Captain America.
Roscoe searched out Steve Rogers, whom he knew to be a good gymnast, in hopes to get some training. Roscoe met the
Falcon instead of Rogers, who told him he was dreaming if he thought he could be the new Captain America. Refusing
to give up, Roscoe donned a Captain America costume and called himself the new Captain America. He followed Falcon
to prove to him that he could be the new Captain America, only to be scared off when Peggy Carter had mistaken him
for the real Captain America.
In hope to persuade Roscoe that he wasn’t cut out to be Captain America, the Falcon took him out patrolling the city
in hopes that he would learn that he didn’t have what it takes to be Captain America. The two happened across a group
of three costumed men breaking into a nearby bank. The Falcon tried to convince Roscoe to take it slow, but Roscoe
rushed into battle. Roscoe and the Falcon managed to defeat the three men and the Falcon began to believe that Roscoe
could actually make it as a crime-fighter. However, moments later a hooded man entered the bank revealing himself
to be the Red Skull. The Red Skull captured both Roscoe and the Falcon. Upon learning that Roscoe was not “his”
Captain America, he became enraged and killed Roscoe. The Red Skull beat the Falcon severely and left the both of
them on a rooftop as a warning for the real Captain America.
Bucky Barnes
As a young boy, James Buchanan Barnes lost his father (a soldier during WWII), and was adopted by Camp Lehigh as their
mascot, and given the nickname "Bucky". It was here that he learned the identity of Captain America. He underwent
rigorous training and was assigned to be Cap's sidekick, accompanying him on many adventures, and the two often worked
with the original Invaders. However, on a final mission against Baron Zemo, Bucky and Cap hopped on an experimental
drone plane in an attempt to disarm a bomb. The bomb detonated, dropping Cap in the North Atlantic, where he would
later be found and thawed out by the Avengers. American forces never found Bucky's body, and he was presumed dead.
Unbeknownst to the Americans, he was found and revived by Russian General Vasily Karpov.
When Bucky awoke, he had no memory of his identity, which gave Karpov an opportunity to reprogram Bucky as a Soviet
assassin called the Winter Soldier. He was sent all across the globe, committing political assassinations with huge
effects on the Cold War. However, his memory implantation caused mental instability, and he was kept in stasis between
missions to prevent rebellion.
